The drive to ISP starts onto I-95 south right at New London; after that it's I-95 west to the Throgs Neck Bridge and east on the Long Island Expressway (the New London–Orient Point ferry is another option). It's about 142 mi. With light traffic you're there in about 2 hr 37 min; on a busy day plan on 3 hr 2 min, mostly because of the Long Island Expressway.
Islip isn't the nearest airport to Connecticut College — that's HPN, about 1 hr 35 min away — but it's often the one with the right flight. Enter the address above for the fixed fare from Connecticut College — tolls included.
Students heading home for break usually leave on the same one or two days, so pickups from Connecticut College are tightly scheduled. Tell us the building or dorm, how many bags, and the flight number — we'll take care of the timing to ISP.
With short lines at ISP, a pickup at Connecticut College about 4 hr 30 min before take-off is normally enough.
Allow about 90 minutes at MacArthur — and extra on summer Fridays, when the Expressway is slowest. Holiday weekends and Friday afternoons are when we add the most cushion on the Connecticut College route.
Take Amtrak / Shore Line East from New London to Grand Central, then the LIRR toward Ronkonkoma (usually changing at Jamaica) and a shuttle to the terminal — a long day.
By car it's one ride from your door: 2 hr 37 min – 3 hr 2 min to ISP. Islip's fares and lines can make the longer drive worth it — and with a car service the extra distance is just more time to sit back.
